Sporting Competitions and House Events
Throughout the year, we are proud to offer our pupils a wide range of exciting opportunities to participate in competitive sport. We regularly take part in inter-school competitions organised by our local School Games Organiser at Sponne School, as well as events within the Northamptonshire School Games programme.
Alongside these external competitions, we have a fantastic intra-house sports programme, where pupils represent their houses in a variety of sporting challenges and events. These friendly but competitive occasions encourage teamwork, determination, sportsmanship and a strong sense of belonging, as pupils work together to earn valuable points for their house.
The excitement builds throughout the year, culminating in the eagerly anticipated presentation of the House Cup at the end of the summer term.
Through these opportunities, we aim to inspire a lifelong love of sport, celebrate participation and achievement, and give every pupil the chance to experience the joy of being part of a team.
Sports Crew
Each year we train our Y6 pupils to become sports leaders. This enables them to organise and run fun playground games at breaks and lunchtimes for all of our pupils.
Sports Premium Funding
This money was used to support sports development in school and was used to pay for the professional development of staff, professional coaching, sports equipment and competition entry.
We provided a range of sporting opportunities for our pupils by organising extra-curricular clubs focussing on different sports and activities.
We have ensured that all our staff have had professional development opportunities, all pupils have had sports coaching, all pupils across the school have had access to a challenging PE trip, trying a more unusual sport or activity. Healthy Living Week focused on health and wellbeing activities for all of our pupils. Our PE resources have been updated and extended. A proportion of this fund has been used to pay for competitions locally by paying into the Sponne Sports Partnership.
School Games Mark
Once again we are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the fourth consecutive year. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
